Amman, Oct. 14 (Petra) -- The U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) has honored Dr. Assem Mansour, Chief Executive Officer and Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), with the prestigious Rachel Pearline Award for 2025, recognizing his exceptional contributions to advancing cancer care and research worldwide.
The announcement was made during the 13th Annual Symposium on Global Cancer Research (ASGCR), a leading international forum that brings together experts, researchers, and healthcare leaders to discuss the latest innovations and challenges in cancer prevention, treatment, and care.
In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Dr. Mansour expressed his gratitude, emphasizing that the award represents a collective achievement rather than an individual one.
"This recognition is not just a personal honor, but a tribute to my colleagues at the King Hussein Cancer Center who dedicate themselves every day to fighting cancer. It reflects our shared commitment to delivering hope, compassion, and world-class care to patients and their families," he said.
The King Hussein Cancer Center is widely regarded as a regional pioneer in comprehensive cancer treatment, offering state-of-the-art therapies, earning international accreditations, and forming strategic partnerships with leading medical institutions across the globe.
The Rachel Pearline Award, presented annually by the NCI, celebrates individuals who embody the legacy of the late Dr. Rachel Pearline, championing compassion, justice, and equitable access to cancer care. Past recipients have included distinguished oncologists and public health leaders from the United States, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Dr. Mansour was selected for the 2025 award in recognition of his visionary leadership and sustained impact in improving cancer outcomes, expanding access to specialized treatment in low- and middle-income countries, and advancing research collaboration on both regional and global levels.
